Another flaming title from Campfire, after Nelson Mandela comes to my notepad this week. I know you've read the title, so no marks for guessing the name. So, this is a mythological title, in a narrative style, from none other than RAVANA: THE DEMON KING.

I can confidently say this is “THE” series fans have been waiting the most to get collected. A SHOWCASE PRESENTS was solicited, but requests for a full colour publication were so overwhelming, the Showcase was cancelled. Chances are, this is probably the first you’re hearing of this title. If yes, let me tell you what the “hubbub” was all about; if no, a little patience,dear reader, we’ll soon get to the meat.

The Comic Creators and Their Trials

Much has been written on the trials and tribulations of the Comic Book Writer or Artists, but it doesn't make the issues we face any lighter or smaller. From day to day we are continually faced with the same thoughts that any artist who is passionate about their work face; is what we are doing making any difference? Will the readers accept my work? Will I ever make it? Will I ever make a living from my work?

Sadly none of these questions have any easy answers. Either wise we would either give up. A fellow Kiwi (New Zealander) Dylan Hyrocks has spent 20 yrs. trying to make it into the big times and he has after a while but he would be the first to say how hard it is. Similar, Richard Fairgray, another or of the hard workers in the comic book medium is now getting a greater recognition for his passion.

In book three of my new favourite series written by my new best mate, Pat Mills (well I met him once anyway) it's time for a double helping of plot thickening with a side salad of comedy and more graphic nudity than I thought was actually allowed in a comic book.Requiem attempts to escape the service of Dracula and his order of vampires to be with his one true love from his human life, Rebecca but the vast and varied factions and nations of Resurrection aren't gonna make it easy for him. I think I spotted Hell Boy in there at one point as well.

Exclusive Preview: The Adventures Of The Kite Family

"The Adventures Of The Kite Family" is a humorous semi-autobiographical comic book series created by Dan Brader and illustrated by Yi Lang Chen and Csaba Mester. The comic is the story of Donnie Kite, a debt-ridden, struggling comedian in his late twenties who moves back home with his constantly bickering parents. Much of the comedy comes from the fact that Donnie doesn't want to be there but has no choice because he's broke and his parents who are complete opposites. Dorothy Kite is a flighty, scatter brained writer with a drinking problem who is always buying clothes she doesn't need and Jack Kite an uptight executive who needs to control everything and everyone and is stressing like mad about his impending retirement and what to do with his constantly unemployed son. The series is comprised of full length issues and short features. So far issue one is complete along with two short features.

"The Adventures Of The Kite Family" has appeared in "Dunedin Comic Collective" and the arts zine "Pink Noise".

G'Day folks! Pleasure to see you all again, hope the beginning of this week has not been too hard on you? In the unfortunate event that it has, have no fear – it is wednesday and it's all downhill to the weekend from here.

So site back. Relax. And enjoy the extra awesomeness of what I have for you today.

Im assuming at the start that you all know who Warren Ellis is, he is the snarky, brilliant, painful, mind-bending and one of the most loved writers in comic-dom – known for his techno wizardry and transhuman, extropic, steam-punk and well... generally unconventional narrative styling and concepts.

Still not certain? Well lets see, his more famous works include (but are not limited to):

More recently and mainstream he revamped Marvel's Thunderbolts into the incarnation we've known and loved since Civil War, wrote a solid run on Astonishing X-Men after Whedon left the title, revamped Tony Stark with the legendary Extremis arc which gave us the Iron Man we know and love/hate today, he was the brains behind destroying Stormwatch over at Wildstorm and creating The Authority and DV8, the totally bad-ass b*tch-slap to trekkie space adventures Switchblade Honey over at AiT/Planet Lar and even a couple of runs on Hellblazer at DC/Vertigo. Not to mention the vast majority of titles over at Avatar Press.

And believe you me folks, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the number of awesome titles this insane genius has put out over the years. Hell he even wrote G.I.Joe Resolute having never known of the franchise before being asked and the final movie (highly recommend it to all fans!!) was in fact so wicked I wished that had been the story for the live-action rather then that sad-sack 'Rise of Cobra' movie.

One of my personal favourites of all time and an inspiration, he has been producing something for a while now that is yet again a redefining move in comics and THAT is what I am here to bring to you.
