The Avengers's has
been rocking the record books and the much anticipated The Dark
Knight Rises is on the horizon to possibly break even more of them.
One big thing that they both share in common? Each has a lovely
leading lady kicking arse in the quintessential cat-suits that all
the coolest and most bad-ass ladies have donned.

SO! In honour of
Anne Hathaway rocking a killer new look for Christopher Nolan's grand
Bat-finale, I decided that we need to bring in something apart from
the same old, same old.
With that in mind,
we have on the menu for you today (and in the next couple of weeks)
the best of the best in cinematic cat-suits! Some you'll know, some
you'll WISH you'd known and will be discovering for the first time
(yes, we try to be educational as well!) and for all that, you're
welcome.
So let's kick off
this countdown of cat-like coolness with the ladies who were flat out
smokin', #8-15 today followed by #7-1 in less than a week! (followed
by a special list of the ones who came that close but didn't make the
final cut, what can I say? Love them all!)
Feel free to
disagree, add to the list, give an opinion why someone should have
been higher, lower, replaced – all views welcome and if you guys
are active enough about it I'm inclined to make a fan-favourite
Top-10 list after all this is done!
Enjoy!
[Authors Note : I've collected as high-res images as I could for each, so click and enjoy!]
15.
Gigi Edgley as Chiana in Farscape
First up we have
this oh-very-enticing alien babe from the insanely awesome and
landmark sci-fi series Farscape (if you are a scifi fan and haven't
seen it, be ashamed!), where she plays a chirpy, slightly kooky and
VERY deadly little thief. And man did she fill out that fur-topped
cat-suit like nobody's business!

Diana Rigg and Uma Thurman (both as Emma Peel) in
The Avengers (TV
series and movie respectively)

The
few of you that have even a clue about who this character is and
Diana, well I like you. The rest of you, The Avengers was an iconic
espionage action adventure TV series from England that ran during the
60's, yes that iconic decade. It was about a spy named John
Steed
and Emma Peel was his longest standing partner who was (like both his
other partners) an intelligent, stylish and assertive women – in
fact the skin-tight outfits worn by Rigg and her predecessor (who is
also elsewhere on this list) were the trend-setters that made it
acceptable as a “norm” (of sorts) to have women in more tough and
action-centric roles and especially the cat-suit as a heroines outfit
of choice. So Thank you ladies – and Uma Thurman, well whatever
else you may think of her, she definitely fills that suit from the
90's movie-remake beautifully!
13. Charlize
Theron in and as Aeon Flux
Another
remake gone bad – this time it was the remake of the mind-bendingly
awesome and legendary animated series Aeon Flux. In the movie Theron
plays the role of our heroine in a cheesy and cliche-riddled story
that killed even what little innovation and points-of-interest the
movie had. That said, Charlize looked so DAMN good from her first
frame to the last that you could just watch this thing on mute and
not feel too badly about the time spent doing that.

12. Scarlett
Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/ Black Widow in Marvels The Avengers

I
imagine there will be a great MANY of you folks out there that will
disagree (maybe even strongly) with my decision to put ScarJo and her
fine-looking-self here on the list instead of closer to, if not in,
the top 3 or 5 – well sorry folks. As lovely and deadly as she is
and as highly entertaining as her performance and role is (thank you
Joss Whedon, for
making a character I was loathing in her first appearance in a movie
into one I was overjoyed to witness! Is it any wonder his fans love
him as much as they do?), in the end her hotness was just surpassed
by some of the others to come! That said, she still rocks the
ass-kicking and I'd be happy to watch her fight evil aliens or
Russian mafiosos or pretty much anyone, anytime.

11. Denise
Richards as White She-Devil in Undercover Brother
Now THIS is a movie I'd be surprised if a whole lot of you saw or if
you remember – my friends and I caught it when it came out in '02
and laughed ourselves stupid at the over-the-top fun-fest that this
adaptation of a small-time web serial that parodied blaxploitation
films. Denise “Wild Things” Richards (man I love
that movie...) plays the evil White She-Devil, the agent brought in
to take down the bad-ass hero played by Eddie Griffin. I would
probably have put her on this list anyway, but between her all-white
outfit and that shower cat-fight (…) she well deserved a spot!

10. Sienna
Miller as Baroness in G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra
Right off the bat, let me say I HATED this movie and am going to just
skip all talk about it except as pertains to the lady at hand. I
wasn't happy with what they did to the character of The
Baroness and her story and was a little annoyed about the
outfit not being like the original – but the undeniable truth is
that Ms. Miller looked good enough to get shot by and was a suitably
bad bad-girl... Now I want to watch the sequel and see if Adrienne
Palicki gets to wear one too...

9.
Jessica Alba as Susan Storm/Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four
Another movie that had a world of potential and despite the mixed
fan-reaction, I actually enjoyed. Then they had to make the sequel...
and make Jessica Alba whiter, blonder and more blue-eyed... and that
whole crappy Galactus cloud thing and dumb-ass storyline... yeah...
ANYWAY, the second movie was a giant unflushable in Marvel's
cinematic bowl at the time, but the first remained a decent enough
movie – made better by the sheer hotness that was Jessica Alba. Now
people seem starkly divided on her as an actress and many don't like
her or think she can't act well enough. Well let me just say that
I've been watching her on screen since she blew my mind in James
Cameron's painfully short-lived Dark Angel series
and she is one of the hottest things on this planet and in her full
uniform in this movie she looked smoking!

8. Jane Fonda
in and as Barbarella

Yet another in the list of “not likely to be know” items,
Barbarella was a light-hearted and surreal comedic romp around the
cosmos, based on a a French comic of the same name by Jean-Claude
Forest – it followed the adventures of our heroine through space
and her many... encounters... let's just say it's NSFW to discuss!
The movie was not a commercial success but I think that's because
people didn't know what to make of it – the lovely Jane Fonda (at
the height of her never-ending hotness) portraying the lead character
in this free-love flavoured, psychedelic and at times almost
nonsensical and sexually loaded romp is not something people would be
able to deal with in a movie hall today so you can imagine it was a
confounding thing when it released in 1968!
Clever and always entertaining, Id recommend watching it if you have
an open-minded enough sense of humour and no hang-ups about sexuality
– plus having the gorgeous Jane to stare at throughout just makes
for that much of a bonus! Apparently radio shock-jock Howard Stern
claimed he watched this on LSD even!
I swear that scene of her undressing in zero gravity alone... just, wow... I salute you Ms. Fonda because they definitely don't make them like you anymore!
Well folks, that's the opening salvo of our countdown, be sure to
come back when we bring you the next installment in a few days when
you get to see the hottest of the hot!
Let us know what you think and if you'd like to see more articles

Till next time, cheers!
