The part emotional, part action-packed
teaser trailer was pure brilliance and here are a few of the moments
and things you may or may not have missed during the trailer of what
fans are calling Marvel’s darker take on this superhero in a
story inspired by the iconic Extremis storyline by
Warren Ellis and where we
finally get to see the cinematic encounter with arch-nemesis, The
Mandarin!
Avengers Impact on Tony:
In the Avengers movie, Tony
enters the portal by himself as a part of an ultimate sacrifice after
the death of his friend Phil Coulson and the alien attack, all of
which leaves a heavy impact on him. What comes out in the beginning
of trailer is how he has trouble sleeping and nightmares about what
happened. He is trying and struggling to do what he normally does
well - fix things. The story proceeds from Avengers, which in turn
will further impact the Thor and Captain America
sequels.

Friends in Danger:
In the trailer we find Pepper Potts and
Happy Hogan in grave danger and Jon Favreau’s character (Happy)
almost dies on the floor. Are Pepper and Happy both going to meet
their end in this movie? Anything is possible at this point!

Aldrich Killian-Pepper Potts
connection:
Is there a love triangle between Guy
Pierce’s character Aldrich Killian, who in Extermis was the
sciene-terrorist that released the Extermis virus, and Pepper Potts?
When Tony says “there are hundreds of people who want to kill me”,
the scene cuts to Killian. He may be a source of at least some of the
problems in Tony’s life and those could include taking Pepper away
from him.

The Ten Rings:
The
Ten Rings from the first Iron Man movie return to haunt Tony
again. The group has been in shadow since that initial movie but this
time The Mandarin takes charge himself, coming out of the dark and we
get to see his rings! While nothing much is revealed about whether
the Rings will have power or not but...
*Spoilers
Ahead!*
There may be some sort of Power Gem
involved behind the source. It could be one of the gems from Thanos’
infinity gauntlet and will provide a direct connection to the
upcoming Avengers 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Extermis Armor(s):
The key element of the movie is also
how his armour acts on its own and/or mostly on commands directly
from Tony’s mind. At two points we see the Armour attacking Pepper
and Tony himself which may be a result of (a) the armour having a
mind of its own or (b) Tony’s nightmares and weak state of mind
makes the armour act like this. Even the official plot synopsis says
" As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the
answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man
make the suit or does the suit make the man?"

In Extremis, the suit is
made of nano-particles and these nano-particles along with the
Extremis power make suits of their own.
*Spoilers
Ahead!*
As we know the Armour
version showcased for this movie is the Mark-42 and everyone has been
asking where are the other forty-one suits when we only saw eight of
them till date. And pretty much all of them are destroyed. In a
clearly awesome idea we will likely get to see Tony
remote-controlling all the preceding Iron Man suits – just imagine
that for a moment...
Movie Timeline:
MCU phase-1 movies
Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2
and Thor took place in
a period of 6-months. Marvel is known for keeping the timeline
precise between all the movies thus far. From Iron Man donning the
suit to finding Captain America in the ice, it took them two years
while Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2 and Thor happened almost at the
same time and 6 months after Iron Man.
Here, like every other
Shane Black movie, the
setting is kept winter and most probably around Christmas. This means
movie takes place hardly 6 months after the battle over New York and
the most possible reason for Captain America’s unavailability is
that he is already set for his own personal mission by this time,
which brings us to...

Mandarin’s connection
to Captain America:
For a brief period we see
Mandarin’s tattoo behind his neck in the design of Captain
America’s shield with A written on it center which leaves us wonder
what does A represents? May be Avengers? Or from what his philosophy
suggests, A can be Anarchy, twisting the values the shield and
Captain America have? Or maybe he’ll be having some kind of role in
Captain America’s sequel even – anything is possible.
We already know that A.I.M
debuts in Iron Man and they are going to be in Captain America as
well, so what if A.I.M is a part of The Ten Rings too? Marvel might
be doing with Mandarin in this universe what Fox has done with Dr
Doom or Sony has with Norman Osborn.

The Iron Patriot good
or bad:
Many fans are complaining
and asking why Rhodey is wearing the Iron patriot armour instead of
Norman Osborn who wore it in the comics. But in a quick glimpse we
find Iron Patriot slamming someone who looks like a Secret Service
agent or maybe A.I.M’s so is it possible that the suit gets stolen
from James at some point in the movie or like Extermis this suit too
has a mind of his own.

Big Green Foot?
At a point we see someone
walking around in the destruction in torn pants and what looks like a
big green foot. So who is it? Is that the Hulk? Probably not, but at
the end of Avengers, Bruce and Tony did go off together and may have
stayed in touch... The movie has a few character still kept under
wraps and one of them is Chen Lu played by Wang Xueqi.
In the comics Chen Lu becomes Radioactive Man who by the way is also
green in colour. Which brings us to a question : Are we going some
sort of “Masters of Evil” storyline for Avengers 2 instead of
more Thanos?
Mysterious Stephanie Szostak's
character:
For
a brief moment in the trailer, we see a woman pushing Stark against a
wall, while he looks all beaten up.
She is said to be playing female version of Firebrand who gets
recruited by Mandarin in the comics.
Here
was everything we thought you might want to know about the trailer.
