AvX Recap (#0-9) : Series In Review

AVENGERS vs X-MEN recap #0-9
Writers: Brian Michael Bendis, Jason Aaron, Ed Brubaker, Jonothan Hickman and Matt Fraction
Art: Frank Cho, John Romita Jr, Olivier Coipel and Adam Kubert
Published by Marvel Comics
Article by Stewart Loud

The X-men and Avengers have declared war on each other and the world as we know it is under threat of total destruction by an all powerful cosmic threat. It's a Marvel event, alright!

The Plot:
The Phoenix is returning. The X-men know it's coming and they know it's intended host is Hope Summers. Despite all the death, destruction and mess it usually causes, the X-men, in particular Cyclops, have decided this is a wonderful thing that could possibly bring back all the mutants again so the world can return to being the ultra dangerous and chaotic place it used to be, where any halfwit or psychotic murderer can be born with the powers to murder more people than they ever could have hoped for otherwise, before most of them were de-powered during House Of M.

All the buzz on MARVEL NOW! in one place!

As we move now well past the halfway mark of Avengers vs. X-Men (a.k.a AvX) and head into the final stretch of this marathon of mindless mauling, big news arrives!
The good folks over at Marvel Comics have announced a huge new “game-changing” move they are calling Marvel Now! that will start to build momentum towards what they are calling a “soft” reboot.
What exactly is the purpose and nature of this reboot? Especially now? Is this just a ploy to get back at their chief rival, DC Comics, who had a hard reboot of their whole line and for the first time in ages beat Marvel in the sales numbers? Is it a genuinely thought out, brave and innovative move? Or is it just a hurriedly put-together gimmick because they have nothing else to do?
We don't know all the answers, but we are committed to bringing you as much information as we can so keep going past the jump for everything on this event out in the news thus far – and remember to stick around in the coming weeks for more!

REVIEW: Avengers vs. X-Men #1

It’s that time of the year, folks!
After the more character focussed issue #0, all the AvX action begins this week with the launch of the much awaited Avengers vs X-Men #1 – and legions of fanboys could not be more excited!
Also, before I get going, you are hereby warned of some Spoilers ahead.
John Romita Jr. handling art might be part of the reason, but the opening of the issue does seem to feel a lot like the opening of your generic Bendis-penned Avengers arc, which makes me wish the build-up on the Avengers camp had been more at par with the that of the X-Men.
While the dialogue is expectedly well done, Nova’s arrival serves the purpose of giving us some action before the main conflict is set to begin in later issues.

Meet the Avengers! (Shattered Heroes roster)

Yeah, it’s that time of the year again, when Earth’s mightiest heroes, at least those who survived the latest summer event, are united against a common threat (Read : Norman Osborn), to fight foes no single hero can withstand. Except Batman. It’s a pity he’s in a different universe.
With the release of Avengers #19, written by Brian Michael Bendis and illustrated by David Acuna, this new comic book day, Marvel has unveiled the full new roster of the post Fear Itself Avengers. It does seem like a pretty solid combination of Avengers mainstays, returning classic members and new recruits.

The Roster
  1. Captain America (The real one)
After the <SPOILER!> non-death of Bucky Barnes in Fear Itself, it is time for the original Captain America, Steve Rogers to wield the shield and lead the team once more.
