Deadpool #61 (Marvel)
Story : Daniel Way
Art : Ale Garza (pencils) + Sean Parsons (inks)

YEAH BAY-BEE!! Hit Monkey’s back.
So this first issue after the Blacklisted saga, we see Wade explaining himself to what seems like somebody 'off-camera'.
So this issue is all about a ex-FBI agent who has a vendetta against good ol’ Wade.
What’s awesome is how eloquent Wade seems to sound when he’s trying to stop HIT MONKEY from KILLING him.. Yes I’m excited. Hit Monkey is awesome. If only I did all my reviews with this intensity.
Hit Monkey holds a special place in my heart, and in the hearts of many a Deadpool fan. Although what pissed me off was the lack of him in the issue and why he’s going ballistic.
So anyway back to the former agent. Yeah, so she was caught in Wade’s line of fire back when she was undercover, now she’s disabled. And, of course, wants DP dead.

The Authority: The Lost Year.

The Authority: The Lost Year is a 12 issue maxi-series that came out between 2006 to 2010. Story by Grant Morrison and Keith Giffen and written by Keith with art by various artists.

The series begins with The Authority slipping through the bleed into an alternate earth where they some how end up losing the 'baby universe' that powers the Carrier. And so they are stuck until they can find a way to get back home. But they realise that a parasite like creature is using the people of this alternate earth as what can only be described as the humans caught in the Matrix. Well you can accept that explanation or that its a Cthulhu like creature feeding on the emotions of the people, who have no idea that its feeding off them. I think the Matrix is less gross.

Action Comics #1-4: Re-Reviewed! (The New 52)

WRITER: Grant Morrison
PENCILLER: Rags Morales
INKER: Rick Bryant
COLORIST: Brad Anderson

Well, first of all, this post was supposed to be up several days back, but due to the awesomeness of the comics (that we've will be reviewing recently), I actually re-read the first four issues again and again.
So, without further delay, I present you another round of Morrison's hit stuff – ACTION COMICS!

FIRST ENCOUNTER-

A Superman in a small-sized cape, old jeans and above all a T-shirt, didn't actually appeal to me much the first time I heard about him. But, whatever the dislikes might have been, I'm loving the new Supes!

THE STORY-

The first issue with two magnificent covers by Morales and Jim Lee, seems to be one of my favorite issue out of the four released so far.
The first few pages show us a totally new Superman. Long before he had even established people's faith for him, when cops didn't thank him but used every opportunity to (try to) catch him.
Now, that's a Superman everyone would eventually love to read.
The Supes we get to see here, is still a little immature at the SUPERMAN style of crime-fighting. Packed with an old Spider-man sense of humor and new ways of making people accept their crimes, it really is a must-read.
The Luthor here is a little chubby and Clark Kent has got baggy clothes(to hide his muscles) and doesn't work at The Daily Planet, but he works at it's rival - The Daily Star. I know, amused me quite a bit at first too.
The last pages of Issue One, shows us that while stopping a train, Supes is bloody, injured and unconscious.

Week In Review - 6th Feb 2012! Action Comics #6 + Fatale #2 + The Boys #63 + X-Club #3+Dark Horse Presents#8

Hey there all you Comic-addicts out there - young, old, thin, fat and anything and everything in between!
Come, grab a seat, settle back and relax as we bring you another edition of Week-In-Review as we review 4 of our teams picks from the past week.

ACTION COMICS #6
Writer:Grant Morrison
Artist:Andy Kubert
Reviewer: Anupam Sarkar
Take genius and flawless writing, awesome art and an iconic character and mix 'em up.
What you get is Action Comics #6!
Back in Issue 5, readers were introduced to the “Anti-Superman Army” who - for unknown reasons - travel back to the past to steal the power source of the rocket that sent Supes to Earth, a.k.a. Kryptonite, which they intend to use to put an end to Superman!
Issue 6 starts with a meet between the Anti-Superman Army and a scientist who extracted the Kryptonite from the rocket's engine.
He also explains that the Kryptonite can be used to create different colors of Kryptonite , which will have different effects on Superman.
The last issue introduced us to Superman from five years into the future from the Action Comics's time-period as well as the Legion of Super-Heroes' founding members (Cosmic Man, Lightning Man and Saturn Woman).
In this issue, we see the Legion trying to to get the Kryptonite back from the Anti-Superman Army and the scientist who are in a hollow lead pellet inside Superman's brain! (Now that sounds insane)
Readers also get a look at some of Superman's childhood memories which are unlocked when Saturn Woman accesses his memory in order to search for the hollow lead pellet.
The issue introduces some crazy yet awesome sci-fi stuff and all the genius stuff that Morrison is known for, while the art by Andy Kubert is just stunning.
SCORE: 10/10

A DCnU view - Deciphering DC

by Aalok Joshi

Hey, Welcome back to another edition of deciphering DC. Today, I try to make sense of the reboot and actually tell you why the DC reboot is good for you. Yes, you heard that right. And I also stress on the parts that might go awry, or just be bad.

Animal Man Vol 3: Deus Ex Machina

Writer: Grant Morrison
Pencillers: Chas Truog and Paris Cullins
Collects: Animal Man issues 18-26
Published under Vertigo

Review by Aalok Joshi

As promised, this is the review of the last of the three collections of Animal Man by Grant Morrison (you can catch previous reviews here and here) which is quite superior to the previous two volumes, in that much it presents a series of events without missing a beat. Most earlier stories seemed like collections of single issues (which worked pretty nicely, in fact) but here it's nice to see Grant tackle a serial storyline, well until the last issue at least, but here we're getting ahead of ourselves.

Animal Man: Origin of the Species

Writer: Grant Morrison

Artist: Chas Truog, Tom Grummett

Published under VERTIGO

Collects: ANIMAL MAN issues 10-17, origin story from SECRET ORIGINS

(SPOILERS continue, though no interior pages this time around! )

And I continue into Vol 2 of the unbridled harrowing rollercoaster ride that is Animal Man. I think the only problem I’m going to have in this series is I’m going to hate to see it end. But end it must, eventually.

Colossally MAJOR SPOILERS ahead...if you have decided to go and buy this book and read it, STOP RIGHT HERE! If not, well, this post gives you umpteen reasons to, including select samplings.

With the slowly and steadily growing mess that is my life pushing my insides out, I find far and few books that are as satisfying a read; driving me towards the fringes, far from the relative comfort zones of the standard Superman , Batman or Flash story and into the morass where the more seedy characters lurk…not all of them are seedy, just…odd. Places inhabited by THE QUESTION , GREEN ARROW, SWAMP THING & ANIMAL MAN.

This week guest writer Lee Roberts reviews Batman and Robin vols 1-2 by Grant Morrison and I've done some quick reviews of Batman's cross-overs with Punisher and Judge Dredd.
That's right I've still managed to write something Punisher related even though it's Batman week! What are you gonna do about it?
