EPISODE 1: The addicts strike back
This war has been going on since ages from the day the first comic got printed. Through the years it has become fiercer than epic rivalries like Ram vs Ravan, Moses vs Ramsis, the Corleones vs the 5 families, Marvel vs Capcom, DC vs Marvel, Star Wars vs Star Trek etc. In fact in its comparison the war between the titans and the Olympians almost looks like children performing a sort of a role play. They (the bookworms) think of us as kids who will be perpetually be kids while we (the comic addicts) know that bookworms are nothing but pseudo-intellectual posers just jealous of the kind of culture we have. Thus to settle this for once and for all we have in the blue corner the comic addicts and in the red corner the bookworms, let the slaughter fest begin.
1. The Name itself: This one is more obvious than recognizing Super-man as Clark Kent. I mean which organism in this universe and the alternate universes would like to be called/identified as an insect. I am sure even the worms don’t like us calling them worms in fact I feel the name Bookworm is somewhat of an insult altogether. But on the other hand the name Comic Addict is cool in the cockiest way. I know some may have reservations about the “addict” part but that’s who we are b****!! We are literally addicted to comics no gimmicks involved!!
2. Our product is more inspiring: Believe it or not comic books have been a major source of inspiration for the entertainment industry whether its games, movies or animations and it has clearly beaten the sh** out of books doing the same. I mean the superhero movies, league of extraordinary gentle, from hell, v for vendetta etc. and of course the games based on these movies and more. And don’t even get me started on animation/cartoons because comic books are the biological fathers of cartoons. (Bookworms please don’t rant about lotr, harry potters , godfathers etc. we still own you when it comes to the combined revenue and fans)
3. We are more powerful and popular than you can ever imagine: Hard to believe but that’s cold hard truth b****es!!! Your keepers of the sacred books have succumbed to our power; most of the mythological books, legends, fables and tales have been adapted in to successful comic books and series. Even epic movies and tv series have understood the power of the comic book side and have allowed adaptations. Some big examples include Star Wars, Star Trek etc.( need I say more)
4. We are easily recognizable: We comic addicts and comic book geeks are so easily recognizable by the clothes we wear, the day to day things and technologies we use, the places where we hang out and things we collect. I mean the comic culture is just so potent that it has infected every area of this living world created a grand niche for itself. When we walk down the street people know it is us, they love us, they admire us or they may even hate us on the other hand there is hardly anything that makes a bookworm different from the normal bore-a** crowd.
5. We are the SUPERSET b***es: you guys know it, I know it even the goddamn people who don’t read anything know it that we are the superset. At the end of the day we are also bookworms in a way but because we are higher on the evolutionary ladder (the x gene, now you get it) we think of the bookworm part of us as a vestigial organ, something which is present in us but we hardly use it.
Thus winner of the this fight by knockout are the COMIC ADDICTS
(This battle may have been won but the war continues... look for another episode next week)
- This over the top and completely one sided list prepared by:
Rohan Purti
He was named Rohan Parti but people of this alternate universe refer to him as Obi-Wayne-K, a Jedi who is as incorruptible as Batman and wants to have the kind of intellect that Master Yoda has but in the art of comic books. All Obi-Wayne-K does is dream, read comics, paint, draw, play some music, retrospect and occasionally fight the dark side of force.

When I meet a bookworm, I just show him Asterios Polyp. "Can your books do that, bitch?"
