Episode 1: Private War of Doctor Doom

Avengers EMH returned to Disney XD with a special Marvel Universe hour along with Spiderman. The first episode, as the title suggests, had a guest appearance of not just Marvel super-villain Doctor Doom, but also his arch-enemies, the Fantastic Four.
The animation is to the level of Young Justice and at times feels more like a kids show, but the storyline is set to please the more mature audiences. The last season ended with a cliff-hanger where Captain America gets replaced by a Skrull infiltrator and the series continues from there borrowing plot points from the Marvel summer event, Secret Invasion.

The first episode was the best way possible to start the season. The most noticeable stuff was the costume changes. Captain America gets a new costume which looks exactly like the Ultimate version or more like the movie version, so does Hulk who gets purple stretch pants. The opening theme song is changed with a narration talking about origins of The Avengers which again kind of feels un-necessary and childish.
The episode starts with the Avengers and Fantastic Four playing host to each other with members of each team visiting Avengers Mansion and the Baxter Building. Hulk and Thing provide some good moments, with both having a classic beef with each other over is the strongest between them.

The battle scene with Doom-bots is well choreographed and so is the handling Dr Doom’s persona on the screen. Moments like the Avengers infiltrating Latveria and Doom alone kicking each and every Avenger’s ass, makes the show worth watching.
In the end we get a tease for Secret Invasion again.
[*Spoilers over!*]
Rating : 3.5 out of 5

Episode 2 : Alone Against A.I.M.
This episode focuses on Tony Stark and his ambitions to make the world a better place. We briefly get a tease about Civil War when Stark talks to Maria Hill in the same way as the comics where things led to that event, only here Tony seems against the proposal.
A.I.M (Advanced Idea Mechanics) returns in season 2 seeking vengeance on Tony Stark and we get introduced to War Machine in the episode as well. There were few good action pieces with T’challa (a.k.a Black Panther), Captain America without his shield and War Machine who handles three A.I.M assemblers alone.
[Editors Note : *Warning: Spoilers ahead*]
A rogue sentient A.I. who was programmed to consume Stark’s arc reactor is ultimately handled by the genius mind of Stark himself.
[*Spoilers over!*]
The entire episode is dedicated to the style and wit of Tony Stark, otherwise an average episode.
Rating : 3 out of 5
