Christopher Nolan’s "The Dark Knight" trilogy : The Comic Connections

With The Dark Knight Rises having stormed theatres around the world and the epic trilogy coming to a close, there is a lot of discussion on various sites and pages about how much this trilogy is loyal to its comic book counterparts.
Well the good news is that it is to a large extent.
This article tries to prove how well the researched the trilogy was by showing all the cues, characters, story points and details that Christopher Nolan and his fellow writers adapted from various iconic comic stories/arcs to create a whole new Batman for a new age!

(It will either prove that, or that I'm an utter and total nutter who see's things everywhere that are just not there!)
I've tried to break these elements down and give you the titles of the stories/graphic novels/collections where they seem to have originated, of course only the movie-makers can know what's true and what's not.
But here, I ask YOU - think you know your caped crusader? Check this out and see what you knew and all the stuff you might've missed, the inspirations for some great movie moments.

DCnU 1st Year Anniversary Special #1 : Heroes Missing

DCnU : The Missing Pieces, the Heroes we've lost!

One year.
One long, year of the DCU New 52. One long year filled with roller coater ups-and-downs that have delighted and aggravated fans across the comic-readership spectrum.
There have been first attempts at crossover, some successful (Night of Owls, Rotworld) and some... not so much (The Culling, Basilisk Rising) and – so far – three waves of releases including the titular first wave of 52.
There are books I've loved and books I've hated and some that aren't quite in either camp – others still that started at one place and jumped to another. The point of all this is, dear reader, that it's been pretty crazy as you're well aware.
BUT! This first year over and DC releasing a whole slew of #0 issues this week, we're looking at finally getting at least some of the many questions about origins and continuity answered (hopefully) through these titles.
With this in mind, we here at Comic Addicts are starting a series of weekly specials that will cover various aspects of the DCnU, from reviews to top-10 style lists and others. Starting now! (so click ahead and read on!)

Easter Eggs from The Avengers Movie

We've got more Avengers goodness for you today folks! After watching all the awesome Marvel movies, the one thing that stands out is that they're creating these movies like and for fans and there are loads of respectful nods, cameos, easter eggs and clever references in ALL of them.
With that in mind, we decided to watch The Avengers again (it was for you guys, research purposes – the first five times was... well... never mind) and found a bunch of little details that fit the bill:
Classic Fury LMD

Life Model Decoy: Tony Stark replies as his own LMD when Coulson tries to contact him. SHIELD and especially Nick Fury are famous for using LMDs all the time. To those unfamiliar with the concept, Lie Model Decoys are life-like Robot replicas that can take the place of actual person as a stand-in or literally : a decoy.

Odin’s Ravens: In the scene just before the battle between Iron Man and Thor happens in the forest, there are two ravens shown. These are most probably Huginn and Muninn, messengers and

AvX in Waiting : 10 X-Men To Watch

Welcome back everyone!
We hope you're all looking forward to some happy weekend relaxing and revitalising after an enjoyable Holi holiday!

To give you some food for thought and some more insight as the week comes to a close, we bring you this second installment of our series of articles to lay some groundwork before AvX (a.k.a. Avengers versus X-Men) kicks off in a few weeks - we figured you don't have to do any needless homework on all this if we do it for you!

With that in mind, we did a rundown on The Avengers last week and this week that's continued with everyone's favourite Mutants:

10) Magneto
If you haven’t been following the X-Men books over the past few years, what you need to know is that not only is the allegedly former mutant terrorist a part of the X-Men, but a very important factor in the merry mutants’ leadership equation. Expect Magneto to take the offensive against the Avengers in a big way.

9) Angel
After his fall during The Dark Angel Saga in the pages of Uncanny X-Force, Warren Worthington III is now a clean slate with no memories of his past. Also, he appears to have gained the ability to bring people (and puppies!) back to life. Does that remind you of a cosmic force famous for corrupting a founding X-(Wo)man? Cause it should.

AvX in Waiting : Ten Avengers to Watch out for

With some time yet to pass for Marvel’s latest much-awaited summer event – Avengers vs. X-Men – we here at Comic Addicts realised that now would be a good time to start off with our speculations and expectations from the event in the form of a series of articles.

Today, we’re gonna talk about those in the ranks of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes who, in this writer’s humble opinion, should play some pretty big roles.

10) Beast
As of right now, Beast seems pretty likely to stay on team Avengers, especially considering all his disagreements with Scott Summers over the last few years over the direction of the latter’s leadership of the mutants. However, what makes his position in AvX interesting is the likelihood of at least some fraction of the Jean Grey Institute faculty siding with their fellow mutants, as well as his recent interaction with the now anti-Avengers Wonder Man.

COMIC ADDICTS VS BOOK WORMS!!

EPISODE 3: The Return of the Addicts

ObiwayneK’s journal,
February 8th, 2012:

Worm carcass in the alley this morning, tire tread on its burnt stomach. These book worms are afraid of me. I have seen their true colors. Their streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood. When the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown. The accumulated filth of all their failed pseudo intellectualism and baseless arrogance will foam up about their waists and all the book authors, worms and book w****s will look up and shout, “Save us!” and I'll look down and whisper, “No!” (although watching that recently posted watchmen parody makes me want to say “I just farted” ).
They had a choice, all of them. They could have followed in the footsteps of good men like Alan Moore or Grant Morrison. Decent men who believed in creating the best possible reading material for the public. Instead they followed the trifling word slingers, who had nothing better than staid old plots documented in dull fonts and they didn’t realize that the trail led over the precipice until it was too late. Don’t tell me that they didn’t have a choice. Now these book worms stand at the brink of destruction by the comic-addicts, staring down at that bloody hell. And in the face of complete decimation all these intellectuals and wannabe smooth talkers can’t think of anything to say.

11. Age no bar: Well this is what we addicts have achieved and it is something the book worms would always dream of having, an ensemble of people with absolutely no age bar. We addicts consist of people of all ages, ranging from 5 to 92. I would be a complete a** if I denied the fact that people in the age group 10-60 read books as well as comics, because they do, but it’s the extremity age groups that add to the gadget list on our bat-belt. It is a scientifically proven fact that children understand and learn better by looking at more pictures and little text.
