Superman: Earth One (Hardcover) Review

For years I have had Superman: Earth One sitting on my book self. I attempted to read it without getting past the first few pages when I got it. Why? I guess I expected it to just be another story about the origin of Superman on earth. But I was wrong. I should have expected it to be something else.

I had pre-ordered the Hardcover knowing that it would be something else, especially since it was written by J. Michael Strachzynski. JMS happens to be one of my all time favorite author. JMS has worked as a writer for TV, with Jeremiah, Murder She Wrote, and his five year long flagship Babylon 5. A TV Series he created and wrote which stands a favorite amongst Sci-Fi fans it hit the screens back in the

Review: Avengers vs. X-Men #5

A quick disclaimer before we start : It’s a little difficult to talk about this issue without dealing with the big elephant in the room spoiler regarding the identity of the new host of The Phoenix. He/she/they/it/I won’t be named here, but it’s safe to call this one a total game changer and a twist worthy of the first act of this massive story.

Easter Eggs from The Avengers Movie

We've got more Avengers goodness for you today folks! After watching all the awesome Marvel movies, the one thing that stands out is that they're creating these movies like and for fans and there are loads of respectful nods, cameos, easter eggs and clever references in ALL of them.
With that in mind, we decided to watch The Avengers again (it was for you guys, research purposes – the first five times was... well... never mind) and found a bunch of little details that fit the bill:
Classic Fury LMD

Life Model Decoy: Tony Stark replies as his own LMD when Coulson tries to contact him. SHIELD and especially Nick Fury are famous for using LMDs all the time. To those unfamiliar with the concept, Lie Model Decoys are life-like Robot replicas that can take the place of actual person as a stand-in or literally : a decoy.

Odin’s Ravens: In the scene just before the battle between Iron Man and Thor happens in the forest, there are two ravens shown. These are most probably Huginn and Muninn, messengers and

15 Hottest Movie and TV Cat-suits (Part 2)

Hectic week so far? Don't worry, something to brighten it up mid-week then is in order!
Now whoever you might be, a thing of beauty is precisely that and with that spiritual thought in mind, I have for you the second half – the top of the top – of my list of some of the most enticing bad-ass ladies ever on film!
Now, in case you think I'm being sexist or you're a lady yourself and have a grouse about it – don't. Let's be honest, men can be a lot of things but nothing compared to a beautiful woman and every single one of these ladies was aiming for precisely that effect and I think it would be hypocritical of me not to honestly appreciate them.
And so, feel free to catch up with the countdown in the first half of this list, but if you've been waiting since last week I shall delay no more and get right to it:

7. Milla Jovovich as Alice in Resident Evil : Afterlife
From the first moment I saw Milla Jovovich in the truly under-appreciated The Fifth Element playing the kooky Leeloo, I think a part of me was smitten for a long while – all compounded when she continued to be the most bad-ass of the bad-asses and hands down the best leading action lady around and Resident Evil was the one that made her even bigger.
No-one can make wholesale devastation and chaos as good as Milla! Period.

Week In Review : Ame-Comi Wonder Woman #1 + B.P.R.D. Hell On Earth The Transformation Of J. H. O'Donnell + Star Trek TNG / Doctor Who : Assimilation2 #1 + The Ravagers #1

Back for more dear readers? Well we're as happy to be here as you are and we've got a new lot of fresh-off-the-presses comics reviewed just for you!

Ame-Comi Wonder Woman #1 (DC Digital)
Story : Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray
Art : Amanda Conner
(Reviewed by Akshay Dhar)
If you had told me months, weeks or even days ago that I would not only be reading but thoroughly enjoying a comic based on a really cheesy Wonder Woman statue created as a gimmick and be a proper fan by the end – I'd have smacked you sideways and sued you for defamation. And I would have been dead wrong.
The first big-awesome on this comic? It's created by the master-class team of Gray/Palmiotti/Conner that brought us the much-missed Power-Girl series (pre-reboot) that was and still is one of the single best heroine-centric series. Period. I admit openly that I'm overjoyed to find that amidst the mess that DC is making of a lot of titles that could be better and screwing-up the mainstream (not completely but a fair bit) titles, it's great to have a book that is lighter, more enjoyable and disconnected from the massive weight of history that DC just doesn't seem able to shake off for some reason.

15 Hottest Movie and TV Cat-suits (Part 1)

The Avengers's has been rocking the record books and the much anticipated The Dark Knight Rises is on the horizon to possibly break even more of them. One big thing that they both share in common? Each has a lovely leading lady kicking arse in the quintessential cat-suits that all the coolest and most bad-ass ladies have donned.

SO! In honour of Anne Hathaway rocking a killer new look for Christopher Nolan's grand Bat-finale, I decided that we need to bring in something apart from the same old, same old.
With that in mind, we have on the menu for you today (and in the next couple of weeks) the best of the best in cinematic cat-suits! Some you'll know, some you'll WISH you'd known and will be discovering for the first time (yes, we try to be educational as well!) and for all that, you're welcome.
So let's kick off this countdown of cat-like coolness with the ladies who were flat out smokin', #8-15 today followed by #7-1 in less than a week! (followed by a special list of the ones who came that close but didn't make the final cut, what can I say? Love them all!)
Feel free to disagree, add to the list, give an opinion why someone should have been higher, lower, replaced – all views welcome and if you guys are active enough about it I'm inclined to make a fan-favourite Top-10 list after all this is done!
Enjoy!
